Discount Demands

Methodology: This study surveyed 3,003 U.S. adults in August 2026 to explore which discount retail brands Americans wish were available in their local community. Respondents were presented with a list of discount and value-focused retailers not currently operating in their area and asked to select the one they would most like to see open near them. Options reflected a mix of regional and national discount grocery and retail chains, capturing local gaps in access to value shopping. Responses were aggregated by state to identify the most-wanted discount brand for each, which was then used to map preferences across the country. Demographic quotas and weighting were applied where appropriate to ensure the sample was broadly representative of the U.S. adult population by age, gender, and region.
